A rich chocolate dessert that serves well for cookouts, picnics, party tables, and kid treats.
Few desserts disappear faster at a gathering than a pan of rich, fudgy brownies. Inspired by beloved British cook and television personality Mary Berry, this classic recipe delivers a wonderfully buttery texture with deep chocolate flavor and pockets of melted semi-sweet chocolate chips in every bite. They're simple enough for an everyday family treat, yet special enough to serve at holiday parties, backyard cookouts, potlucks, picnics, bake sales, and dessert buffets.
The beauty of these brownies is their versatility. Cut them into generous squares for a satisfying dessert, or into smaller bite-sized pieces for easy entertaining. Serve them on their own, dusted lightly with confectioners' sugar, or dress them up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of warm chocolate sauce. However you serve them, don't be surprised if everyone asks for the recipe—and seconds.
Ingredients
2 1/2 sticks of unsalted butter
1 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
4 eggs
1/3 cup of cocoa powder
1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt
1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Grease and line a 9” x 12” inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
In a stand mixer using the paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar together.
Add the eggs one at a time until combined.
Add cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until just combined–don’t overmix.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Spread the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes–or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
Note: Since this brownie recipe has a high-sugar concentration they might brown quickly on the top–if this starts to happen, cover the brownies loosely with tin foil for the last 10 minutes of baking.
Holiday Baking Tip: For a holiday-festive look, crush some Starlight mint candies on top with a sprinkling of sea salt after the brownies have cooled–makes for a cheery holiday presentation.
Enjoy!
