Grilled Caesar Salad

Grilling romaine transforms a familiar Caesar salad into something wonderfully smoky and unexpected. The cut sides of the lettuce develop a light char while the centers stay crisp, creating a delicious contrast of textures and adding extra depth to every bite.

This simple Grilled Caesar Salad recipe comes together with just a few ingredients: romaine hearts, olive oil, Caesar salad dressing, and grated Parmesan cheese. For the best results, choose firm romaine hearts and grill them cut-side down until lightly charred but not wilted.

Serve the grilled lettuce as individual salads, drizzled with our Caesar salad dressing and finished with plenty of grated Parmesan. It makes an easy side dish for grilled meats, seafood, or sandwiches—and is a fun way to make a classic salad feel special.

Ingredients

  • Romaine lettuce (use hearts of lettuce, often sold three in a package)

  • Olive oil

  • Caesar salad dressing

  • Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

  • Cut romaine hearts in half lengthwise. Each head will make two salads.

  • Drizzle olive oil on the cut side of the lettuce.

  • Preheat a grill pan to medium-high heat.

  • Placing the cut side down on the grill pan, grill the lettuce for four to five minutes until slightly charred.

  • Remove from the pan and trim to fit the size of your plate by cutting the tops or removing some of the outer leaves.

  • Drizzle with Caesar salad dressing.

  • Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

Enjoy!
